The 11-acre site lies nestled in a dense green cover of Vadodara in Gujarat. It is the meeting point between industries on one side and farmland on the other. Planned on the site is a state-of-the-art petroleum research facility with a built-up area of 90,000 sq. ft. Completed in 2001, this complex consists of centrally air-conditioned, state-of-the-art research facilities for the Saudi Arabian Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), a worldwide R&D subsidiary of Saudi Arabian State Oil Industries. The office functions as the largest R&D centre for petroleum-based products being produced by Saudi oil industries outside Saudi Arabia. The unique design of this complex comprises low-rise, sprawling built masses interwoven with a series of open courtyards. The brick-clad buildings harmoniously blend with the surroundings. The central courtyard, which acts as a common recreation space, has been provided with sit-outs and a centrally located water fountain.
