The Central University of Rajasthan is considered one of the finest examples of ‘traditional meets modern’ institution design in India. Selected for its exemplary performance in water management and conservation of landscape and biodiversity, the project has been awarded at the GRIHA Summit 2014 (the year it was completed) as an exceptionally good design for ‘Urban Sustainability’. Spread over a 500-acre campus along the Jaipur-Ajmer road in Rajasthan, it is a collection of architectural ensembles – such as academic blocks, administration block, library building, hostel for 10,000 students and faculty housing for 1,000 faculty members.
